There’s no place like home.

Beginning your magical life is a fairly easy process.

It’s a state of mind.

If you feel as though you need a little bit of magic in your life, simply allow it in.

Learn about the four elements of earth, air, fire and water:

Go outside and feel the earth beneath your feet. Do some gardening. Hug a tree.

Listen to the wind as it whispers, cries and sings.

Sit in candle light and watch the flame jump and flicker. If you have the chance to sit in front of an open fire or a bonfire, allow the flames to consume your thoughts.

Wash yourself with clear waters from a stream. Or splash in puddles. Dance in the rain.

The fifth element a witch works with is spirit. Her/his own, and that of other peoples. This is a skill that takes practise, but which can be learned.

Always remember Dorothy’s famous line at the end of The Wizard of Oz “There’s no place like home”. This is especially true when seeking magics. It would be great if we could study magics at school or college, but instead we have to rely upon privately run groups. Do your research! Are they a trusted group? Have they been recommended to you by someone you completely trust? Do you have a friend or two you can go with?

My best advice is to research, research, research! Good books to start with are by Scott Cunningham, Laurie Cabot and Kate West.

And ask yourself “is this right for me?” Listen to the answer and trust it!
